Three great Catalina activities with expanded availability
The days when Catalina Island was a seasonal destination, with activities and services only in the summer months, are long gone, but there are still many Catalina activities that aren’t available in the winter months. This spring we’re looking forward to taking advantage of the expanded availability of adventures, including:
Take a ride — E-bikes are great way to get around Avalon’s charming streets and scenic waterfront. These electronic bicycles combine pedal power with a bit of extra oomph to make tackling Avalon’s hills a breeze. E-bikes are available either via an independent rental or as part of the Catalina Guided Electric Bike Tour, which includes a friendly local to show you the lay of land, as well as admission to the Wrigley Memorial and Botanic Gardens as well as a Buffalo Milk, Catalina Island’s signature cocktail. This two-hour tour covers 10 miles and includes some of Avalon’s most scenic spots.
Get wet — Racing along the surface of the sea on a high-speed personal watercraft is sure to get your pulse pounding and your adrenalin pumping — as well as get you as close to the salt spray as possible. Jet skis infuse a serious dose of fun into any Catalina Island vacation and if you are looking for water adventures this is one you won’t want to miss. Jet Ski Rentals on Catalina are available for one passenger, two passengers or up to four passengers.
Fly high — Parasailing is one of Catalina’s most popular activities and once you’ve tried it, you’ll understand why. Soaring high above Avalon Harbor on a Parasail Ride provides a bird’s eye view as well as a floating sensation that manages to be both relaxing and exhilarating at the same time. While this iconic activity is available year round, beginning in spring it’s available every day. Warmer weather also makes dipping your toes – and legs – into the ocean much more tempting. Choose between flying 600 feet or 800 feet and this is the perfect adventure to share with a friend or two.
