Ferry to Catalina from Newport Beach

There are several options for transportation to Catalina Island, including boat and helicopter. The most convenient for central Orange County is the Catalina Flyer, which is operated by Catalina Passenger Services out of Balboa Island in Newport Beach.
The Catalina Flyer cruises through Newport Harbor before reaching the open ocean, allowing Catalina visitors the chance to see the expansive homes and distinctive yachts of this exclusive area. Once through the Newport Channel, travelers can watch for dolphins and whales, which are frequently spotted on the Catalina ferry.
With a capacity of 475 passengers, the Catalina Flyer is one of the largest passenger ferries in Orange County. It offers a daily round-trip through most of the year, departing Newport Beach at 9 a.m. and leaving the island at 4:30 p.m.
The boat ride to Catalina, which is filled with sea breezes and ocean vistas, takes about 90 minutes. The three-decked ferry to Catalina includes a snack bar on the lower deck and a cocktail bar on the middle deck. The top deck is open, allowing travelers to soak in the sunshine and salt spray.
