VAN INTERIOR TOUR / RAFTING ADVENTURE – Package 106

Your package includes round trip cross channel transportation from Long Beach aboard Catalina Express. Upon Arrival in town you will check in with Wet Spot Rentals and Tours for your three hour van excursion.  Explore Catalina’s rugged interior on this 30 mile island tour aboard our comfortable air conditioned vans.  Departing Avalon, you will climb 1500 feet to the top of the Island where stunning views await. Your guide/driver will explain the colorful history of our Island and point out its varied wildlife along our route. We will stop at the Airport in the Sky and explore the Catalina Conservancy’s Nature Center. All aboard! We continue our journey to the rugged windward side of Catalina Island for breathtaking views and photo opportunities. If time permits we may even stop at the World War II gun bunkers for a look into Catalina Island’s history and to enjoy its beautiful ocean vistas. You may even see whales and pods of dolphins playing below you in our crystal clear ocean waters

Our route then takes us through the middle of Catalina Island, home of the bald eagle and Catalina fox habitats as well as the 1800’s stagecoach stop Eagles Nest Lodge.  We will stop along the way to serve snacks and soft drinks and to answer any questions you may have.  We will pass Middle Ranch, Cape Canyon and Hay Press on our route back to Avalon.  You will end this adventure with a new appreciation of the unspoiled, majestic beauty of Catalina Island.

After lunch it will be time to check in for your 3 Hr. Island Adventure with Catalina Ocean Rafting. Your adventure will explore twenty miles, ten miles along our Island’s coastline and ten miles offshore is search of dolphins. Our Captain and/or Crew will explain the history, geology and plant life as we make our way down the coastline. Once out of Avalon, Catalina Island is a nature preserve, and it is beautiful, with its pristine beaches and beautiful coves. We may encounter Bald Eagles, Herron’s, Red Tail Hawks, Flying Fish, Sea Lions, and Harbor Seals along our route.

We will stop to snorkel at one of our best down island snorkel spots. Your crew will provide all the snorkeling equipment you will need to enjoy our undersea gardens. Beginners are welcome, if you know how to swim. After your snorkel, we serve complementary cheese, crackers, bottled water and sodas.

Hold onto your hat, as your ocean raft heads offshore in search of Dolphin, Whales, and other critters on our way back to Avalon.

Below you can order an underwater camera, bag of fish food or our special video snorkeling mask with its built in video camera.  Pictures are downloaded on DVD upon your return to Avalon.

You can also upgrade your Catalina Express tickets to Commodores Lounge, which is the first class section on their boats.  You will receive pre boarding, reclining leather trimmed seats, snack and a cocktail or drink.  Why not cruise to the Island and back first class!

What to bring and wear:

For your Van Excursion wear comfortable clothes.  For the Rafting Adventure wear your bathing suit with a set of clothes over it; towel; sunscreen; soft soled shoes, sandals, or flip flops; sweatshirt or jacket, and spending money (gratuities for activity crews are not included in package).

• 6:15 AM – Depart for Catalina Island
• 7:30 AM – Arrive Catalina Island
• 7:30 AM – Open for breakfast
• 9:45 AM – Check in at Wet Spot Rentals & Tours
• 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM – Van Excursion (snacks served)
• 1:00 PM – 2:15 PM – Open time for lunch
• 2:15 PM – Check in with Catalina Ocean Rafting
• 2:30 PM – 5:30 PM – 3 Hour Island Adventure (snacks served)
• 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM – Open for Dinner/shopping/cocktails
