WILD DOLPHIN ADVENTURE  -  Package 84

This package included cross channel transportation from Long Beach.  After time to explore Avalon it will be time to check in at Catalina Ocean Rafting for your Dolphin Adventure.  This excursion will show you about 10 miles of the Island’s coastline. Your captain will explain the history and geology of the Island. We will stop to take pictures and experience the Island’s Bald Eagles. We may also encounter Harbor Seals, Sea Lions, red tail hawks, and other Catalina wildlife. We will visit Long Point, Italian Gardens, Goat Harbor, and Rippers Cove.

After a break for soft drinks and to answer questions, we depart offshore two to three miles in search of dolphins on our run back to Avalon. When we find a pod of dolphin we will position the raft in the middle of the pod which allows you to get eye to eye with these beautiful marine mammals. It’s a blast! This trip is for those people who do not want to snorkel but want to enjoy our Island’s beautiful coastline and wildlife.

This package allows plenty of open time to enjoy Avalon on your own. If you would prefer to add an activity during your open time we offer a one hour golf cart rental, the rental of snorkeling gear or an electric bike rental which you can add to your package to make your day perfect. These options allow you to explore Catalina above and/or below the surface!

You can also upgrade your Catalina Express tickets to Commodores Lounge, which is the first class section on their boats.  You will receive pre boarding, reclining leather trimmed seats, snack and a cocktail or drink.  Why not cruise to the Island and back first class!

The package also includes Discount coupons valid at many of Avalon’s best restaurants, shops, boutiques and walking tours.

This package is available daily from April 1, – October 31.  From November 1 – December 31 it is available on Saturday and Sunday.

Itinerary:

• 8:00 AM – Check in at Catalina Express, Downtown Long Beach Terminal (note 1)
• 8:30 AM – Depart for Catalina Island (note 1)
• 9:45 AM – Arrive Catalina Island (note 1)
• 9:45 AM – 11:15 AM – Open time for Breakfast
• 11:15 AM – Check in with Catalina Ocean Rafting
• 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM – Coastal Wild Dolphin Excursion
• 1:30 PM – 7:00 PM – Experience Catalina Island on your own or add a golf cart rental or snorkel gear rental at check out.
• 7:00 PM – Check in at Catalina Express (note 2)
• 7:30 PM – Depart from Avalon to Long Beach aboard Catalina Express (note 2)
• 8:45 PM – Arrive Long Beach (note 2)

(Note 1) This schedule is for Sunday from 10/26/2011 through 12/31/2011. On Saturdays, departure is at 8:00 AM (7:30 AM check in).  Weekday passengers must take the 6:15 AM boat (5:45 AM check in).

(Note 2) From 10/26/2011 through 12/31/2011 your return boat will leave Avalon at 7:30 PM (check in at 7:00 PM) every day except Friday.  On Fridays your departure is at 8:50 PM (check in at 8:20 PM).

What to bring and wear:

Sunscreen: soft soled shoes, sandals, or flip flops; sweatshirt or jacket, camera and spending money (gratuities for activity crews are not included in package).
